What To Do If Your Blogs Are Not Getting Engagements

Introduction

So have you ever written a blog or a post you were super proud of, and it just went quiet? No shares, no comments, just crickets. So why does that happen? Why don’t people share your content? Let’s look at it.

Share Button Matters

First thing—do you even have a share button? Because if you don’t, that’s where you messed up. People are lazy. You can’t expect someone to copy your blog link, open Facebook, paste it, and then share it. Most won’t. But if there’s a button at the end of your blog that says “share on facebook” or “share on twitter” and it just opens the platform with the post ready to go, now that’s easy. Takes three seconds. Boom. Done.

Reward the Sharer

Now here’s another trick—reward the person who shares. Make a small animation pop up that says “thank you for sharing!” Maybe make it funny or cute. People like that. And if they like the feeling, they might share on more than one platform. It’s just a nice little touch that makes people smile.

Is Your Content Worth Sharing?

Now let’s talk about your content. Is it even worth sharing?

Some people write for themselves, not for the reader. Your content needs to help someone, solve a problem, or be so interesting that someone says, “my friend would love this.” That’s what makes something shareable. So if your blog is all over the place, talking about nothing really, no one’s gonna share that. Simple as that.

Also, don’t try to sound too smart. Big words don’t impress anyone. People want things that are easy to read and easy to understand. Even better if it’s short. People don’t want to read forever. They’ll only share if they feel like it’s something useful, funny, or quick enough for someone else to enjoy.

Avoid Annoying Ads and Popups

Another reason people don’t share? Too many ads. Popups. Auto-playing videos. It’s annoying. And if your site looks spammy or aggressive, they’re out. And even if they read it, they won’t want to share it because they don’t want their friends thinking they read spammy stuff.

Mobile Friendliness

Let’s not forget about mobile users. If your share button is hidden on phones, or it’s hard to tap, that’s a problem. Most people are on their phones. Your blog should look good and be easy to use on small screens. Big buttons. Simple layout. Nothing fancy. Just make it easy.

Ask People to Share

You should also ask people to share. Just say it. “If you liked this, share it with a friend.” Sometimes a little nudge is all it takes. Don’t beg. Don’t be annoying. Just a soft reminder. You can also use a small line like “know someone who needs this? send it to them.”

Emotion Connects

Another thing to think about is emotion. If your blog feels dry or robotic, it won’t connect. People share things that make them feel something—happy, surprised, even angry. Try to write like you talk. Be real. If it feels human, people are more likely to pass it on.

Timing Matters

Lastly, timing matters. Don’t post your blog at 3am when everyone’s asleep. Figure out when your audience is active and post then. If no one sees it, no one can share it. Simple.

Quick Checklist

  • Do you have visible share buttons at the end?
  • Does your blog work well on mobile?
  • Is your content helpful, funny, or emotional?
  • Do you keep it short and simple?
  • Do you ask people to share?
  • Does your blog look clean, not spammy?

Fix those things and next time, maybe your blog won’t just sit there alone.

Maybe someone will read it, smile, and click that share button.

And that’s how it starts.

One share at a time.
